Rates for General Translations

Most jobs are charged based on the number of Japanese characters to be translated into English, or on the number of English words to be translated into Japanese. Rates may vary depending on various factors, such as the technical level, legibility and format of the source text. Small translations are subject to a minimum charge of ￥3.000.

Special rates for high volumes & long-term commitments.

Word Count

I follow the standard word count provided by MS Word. If the original document is in electronic format, the word count can usually be obtained from the word count function in MS Word (note that MS Word does not count text in text boxes – this has to be added).

If the document is in paper format, I will do the character count manually.

Payment, Timing, Documents and more

Payments are possible by bank transfer or credit/debit card using the online payment secured by Paypal. Direct bank deposits are available in Japan and the United Kingdom. Payments are due after delivery of the document and large projects may require an upfront payment.

The turnaround time is based on the length and complexity of the document, and whether special formatting is required. I usually try to accommodate your deadline and understand short time frames.

You can submit almost any file format, both editable text and image formats.
